LJMU Early Career Researcher Development Fellowship (2014)

In 2014, the ICC’s research lead for Cultural Assets and Social Value, Gayle Whelan, was awarded funding under LJMU’s Early Career Researcher Development Fellowship Scheme to further develop her career by engaging in collaborative research with leading academics.

This funding gave Gayle the opportunity to collaborate with Professor Alex Nicholls at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

Professor Nicholls is Editor of Social Entrepreneurship: New Models of Sustainable Social Change and is a University Lecturer in Social Entrepreneurship. His research interests span several key areas within social entrepreneurship and social innovation, including: accountability and governance; public and social policy contexts; and impact investing.

This collaboration is currently supporting the development of a publications strategy specifically related to Gayle’s expertise in Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology and her continuing work in mapping cultural assets and their impacts on community wellbeing.
