Research Team

Crossing Boundaries is led by the ICC’s Head of Research Kerry Wilson, as part of a wider programme of research exploring the role and value of cultural sectors and organisations in responding and contributing to social policy and public health agendas in the UK. Research team members include:

Dr Rafaela Ganga – Research Associate (LJMU)

Rafaela is a full-time Research Associate in the Faculty of Health at Liverpool John Moores University (formerly ICC Research Associate 2016-19). Rafaela specialises in museum education policy and practice, having conducted doctoral research (awarded 2013) on the sociology of cultural education with Tate Liverpool, Šiuolaikinio Meno Centras and Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art.

Gayle Whelan – Social Value Researcher

Gayle was ICC Research Fellow (2014-19) and now works as an independent research consultant. Gayle specialises in community asset mapping and social value methodologies, including social return on investment (SROI). Gayle has previously led on WP3 of the Crossing Boundaries project, having conducted SROI research as part of two previous House of Memories evaluation studies.
