Ecrea Media & the City 2015 Conference

This event is running from 24 September 2015 until 25 September 2015

In September, ICC head of research, Beatriz García, will be speaking at the Ecrea Media & the City 2015 Conference at the University of Zagreb.

In her presentation, Beatriz will consider the potential for the media representation of one-off international cultural events to transform narratives of place. She will also offer her reflections, at the conference’s plenary session, on what it means to engage in an exploration of media and the city – conceptually, empirically, methodologically and pedagogically.

The title for this year’s conference, Urban Media Studies: Concerns, Intersections and Challenges, reflects the fact that, although media-related practices are grounded in the city, these two complexes – media and the city – have remained disjointed in scholarly analysis. As such, this year’s conference aspires to provide a dialogic space for disciplines interested in mediated urbanism, whilst at the same time hoping to stimulate critical reflections on the challenges of collaborating across disciplinary boundaries.
