European Broadcasting Union Knowledge Exchange 2015

This September, ICC head of research, Beatriz García, will be presenting at the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) Knowledge Exchange — an event that brings together professionals and academics from the world of media and communications for a day of discussion and ideas-sharing around an issue currently affecting public service media (PSM).

The topic for this year’s event, PSM Contribution to Society, will discuss the economic and social benefits that PSM generate, with the aim of developing a framework to assess the contribution of PSM.

As one of the speakers invited to the event, Beatriz will explain how the Impacts 08 research programme was able to identify and capture the social, cultural and economic impacts of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2008. The ICC’s head of research will also consider the resources and methodologies required when attempting to measure the impact generated by culture, in a presentation which will undoubtedly provide EBU Members, academics and other media professionals with lots of ideas and inspiration on how to measure the value delivered by public service media.
