Museum community engagement schemes, austerity and practices of care

This event is on 20 June 2016 5:00pm

The ICC is delighted to welcome Dr Nuala Morse (University of Manchester) and Dr Ealasaid Munro (University of Glasgow) to Liverpool John Moores University to present and discuss their innovative research on the role and value of museums in landscapes of care. The research, recently published in the journal Social & Cultural Geography, poses pertinent questions on the role of everyday museum practices in care contexts, focusing upon the impact of austerity and the work of museums as expressions of ‘progressive localism’. Please click here for full seminar details including abstract and guest speaker biographies.

The seminar is free to attend and will be introduced by ICC’s Head of Research Kerry Wilson, who leads our Cultural Leadership research programme. Following a presentation from Nuala and Ealasaid, there will be time for questions and discussion over a glass of wine. If you would like to join us, please RSVP to Kerry so we have an idea of numbers: k.m.wilson@ljmu.ac.uk
