Art of Social Prescribing Workshop

This event is on 11 May 2015

The ICC’s Head of Research Kerry Wilson is running a research workshop on Monday 11th May 2015, linked to her AHRC-funded project ‘The Art of Social Prescribing: informing policy on creative interventions in mental health care’. During the workshop, participants will review and discuss the evidence base on the efficacy, value and impact of arts-based social prescribing schemes nationally; identify the opportunities and challenges presented by existing research in terms of evidencing ‘future value’; to consider more closely the contribution and value of arts and humanities research in this context; and start to develop a ‘best practice’ strategy for researching the efficacy and value of such interventions in the Liverpool city region.

Participants will hear from invited guest speakers about research projects in the field, including Chris Dayson from the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research, Sheffield Hallam University on the Social and Economic Impact of the Rotherham Social Prescribing Pilot, and Dr Josie Billington and Professor Phil Davis from the Centre for Research into Reading, Literature and Society, University of Liverpool on the Intrinsic Value of The Reader Organisation’s Shared Reading Scheme.

For more information on the workshop at Blackburne House, Liverpool on 11th May and the research project, contact Kerry on k.m.wilson@ljmu.ac.uk
