Breaking Into the Temples of Culture: Exploring Arts, Health and Wellbeing Initiatives in the Community

This event is on 27 November 2015

On 27 November, ICC Research Lead for Cultural Assets & Social Value, Gayle Whelan, will be speaking at ‘Breaking Into the Temples of Culture: Exploring Arts, Health and Wellbeing Initiatives in the Community‘ — a symposium organised by the Institute for Public Policy & Professional Practice (I4P) which will explore the different ways in which what Gary O. Larson called ‘the temples of culture’ in American Canvas seek to engage with the community and develop a more participatory involvement with the arts.

The fundamental aim of the symposium will be to create space for discussion, knowledge exchange and possible future collaboration. In her session, Gayle will discuss her own work at the ICC on cultural assets and social value, and will consider ways in which we might move closer towards a model of asset-based cultural prescribing.
