Culture and Health: A research agenda for the Liverpool City Region

This event is on 10 April 2019 9:30am

In March 2018, the Liverpool City Region (LCR) Combined Authority launched its 30-year Culture and Creativity Strategy, describing culture as a ‘valuable catalyst and contributor for social and economic growth’. The ambitious strategy seeks to simultaneously boost the visitor economy through cultural tourism; develop pathways for talent development and enhanced access to cultural and creative industries; and achieve ‘positive outcomes’ in wellbeing, health, education, cohesion and the future world of work. Focusing on the strategy’s social orientation towards health and wellbeing, the Culture and Health research symposium led by the Institute of Cultural Capital will showcase cutting edge research undertaken by the institute. Following keynote presentations from Liverpool’s leading academics in the field, the symposium will also invite discussion with key LCR stakeholders on developing a ‘fit for purpose’ research and evidence base on the social value of arts and culture, with a particular emphasis on integrated approaches to health and wellbeing.
