ICC workshop to explore image of Brazil in the wake of Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Added on Tuesday, May 16th, 2017

On 16 May 2017, the ICC will be hosting a workshop that will look to explore how Brazil has been branded in the run-up to, during, and after the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Organised as part of a Newton Fund knowledge exchange project being led by ICC Director, Dr. Beatriz García, and Professor Paulo Nassar (University of São Paolo), the ‘Branding Brazil‘ workshop will discuss ways in which official narratives produced in the context of the Games affect representation in local, national, and international media.

A valuable opportunity to learn more about research methodologies such as media content analysis, the workshop will also consider differences between the branding of Brazil in Brazil and in the UK, and will engage with the effects of socio-political issues which do not feature as part of official narratives despite the efforts of the Olympic Committee’s cultural programme.

More information on the workshop and how to register is available on Eventbrite.
