ICC Research Fellow, Rafaela Ganga, to present paper as part of European Sociological Association conference on arts, culture and the city

Added on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018

This September, ICC Research Fellow, Rafaela Ganga, will present a conference paper at the European Sociological Association’s midterm conference for the ‘Sociology of the Arts’ and the ‘Sociology of Culture’ research networks.

Hosted by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta in Valletta – one of this year’s European Capital of Culture host cities – the general topic for the conference is the connection between the arts, the city and the processes that link them, to examine the intricate interweave of aesthetic, social, cultural and economic dynamics in cities.

Part of the parallel session dedicated to the topic of the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) programme, Rafaela’s paper presents findings from an ethnographic case study of museum education practices in three different ECoC host cities –  reflecting on various issues associated with the application of the ‘global ethnography’ methodology, both in the context of the original research and in relation to plans to revisit the project 10 years on from initial fieldwork.

Further information on the conference can be found here.
