Workshop on arts and health at NHS North West Social Prescribing Network Conference

Added on Wednesday, March 11th, 2020

It was a pleasure to facilitate an afternoon workshop at the North West Social Prescribing Network Conference in Preston on 25th February 2020. Following successful network events held over the past few years, there has been a growing movement across the region to position social prescribing as a cornerstone for creating good health and wellbeing. The 2020 conference brought together people from health, local government and voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors to continue the conversation.

The ICC’s Head of Research Kerry Wilson was invited by conference organisers, including NHS England and Voluntary Sector North West, to facilitate a session on arts and health and opportunities for developing arts on prescription in the North West region, in collaboration with John McMahon, Senior Manager for Policy & Research at Arts Council England. Her presentation covered key recent publications and supporting strategic networks in the national arts and health movement, followed by practical advice on mapping cultural assets and cross-sector collaborative working.

Thanks to all for a great conference and we look forward to working with the regional network again in the near future!
